Perhaps because he competed in dressage?
Yes, dressage. You know the sport. Oh, wait, you probably don't. Even during the Olympics it's relegated to the sixth choice channel. In dressage, competitors prance around on horses. No, they don't even jump over barriers. They literally just prance around. And wear funny hats. The humans, not the horses. And then are judged. Yes, it's an Olympic sport. Yes, medals are awarded. Actual Olympic medals, which are worth as much as those in gymnastics, track and field, or modern pentathlon!
Well, at least it makes more sense than synchronized swimming...
