Who was Deep Throat?
The man who provided Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein with information that linked Richard Nixon to the Watergate scandal, his identity was hidden for over 30 years. That was until 2005, when former FBI associate director Mark Felt decided to end the mystery. He finally came forward and proclaimed himself as the informant.
It was no surprise to many when Felt's name was revealed, for he was always near the top of potential candidates. In fact, Nixon himself thought that Felt was Deep Throat, expressing his horror when the name was mentioned. Why?
Because Nixon erroneously thought that Felt was Jewish.
