Take Harald Bohr. The Dane was an excellent soccer player, helping his country to the silver medal at the 1908 Olympics. He was also an excellent mathematician. So which path did he choose?
Harald, whose brother was famed physicist Niels, chose math. His athletic career ended with the presentation of his thesis, which was attended by numerous soccer fanatics. They came to cheer their hero for the final time.
