When the Super Bowl match-up turned out to be the New England Patriots versus the Philadelphia Eagles, we had no idea who we were going to root for. Do we cheer for the cheating evil empire or the terrible fanbase that booed Santa Claus? (Of course, we wouldn't exactly cheer. We would begrudgingly accept one as the champion, and move on.)
And then, as the game kicked off, something became very clear. We really, really did not want those cheating evil Patriots to win again. So, as the Eagles won the Super Bowl for the first time in history, we were somewhat happy for those terrible fans.
It doesn't hurt that the architect of the Eagles' triumph, Howie Roseman, is Jewish. He became the youngest GM in NFL history in 2010, lost a power struggle to head coach Chip Kelly, got re-instated when Kelly was proven a fraud, and eventually built the Super Bowl champions.
So, hooray for the Eagles, we guess. Besides, we have no problems with booing Santa Claus...
