You might expect this profile to be about how George R. R. Martin never finishes anything. But as writers, ourselves, we're not really receptive to such snark. Creating a complex story such as Game of Thrones is a massive undertaking. Heck, just writing a 10,000 word short story can be a years' long enterprise. So, no, George, take your time.

Instead, we're going to talk about a recent (as of January 2018) episode of "Finding Your Roots" featuring the prolific writer. As the episode doth tell, Martin believed he was three-quarters English/Irish and one-quarter Italian. Instead, however, it is revealed that he isn't Italian at all, and is, in fact, one-quarter Ashkenazi Jewish!

    Hooray!

Well, hooray for us, anyway. We're not sure if it's exactly happy news for Martin.

In any case, it turns out that his grandmother may have had an affair, resulting in, well, Martin. Eventually. And doesn't that seem to make all kinds of sense? So much of Martin's works revolve around sexual debauchery, infidelity, etc. Of course for Martin's life to really to reflect his work it should have involved incest, but we digress.

In any case, we're happy to have Mr. Martin as one-quarter MOT and we're really looking forward to reading more of his work, whenever he gets around to fini...

    Verdict: Barely a Jew.
