We've recently been turned onto Only Connect, Britain's most difficult game show. Think of it as Jeopardy! on steroids. A recent episode first required to deduce that the question is asking for the world's record holder in the triple jump, then actually name him. The triple jump! And that's just scratching the surface.
The show is hosted by Victoria Coren Mitchell, who is 1) Jewish, 2) a rather successful poker player, and 3) has a very dry wit. She is a host of a brainy British game show, what else do you expect?
Each episode ends with the Missing Vowels round, where contestants earn points by guessing clues with the vowels removed and the consonants re-spaced. (For example, if the category was Game Show Hosts, "VCT RC RNMT CHLL" could be a clue.) Give it a whirl!... It won't be easy.
