It's always interesting when celebrities pop up on Survivor... (Perhaps "interesting" is not the right word.) Some do well, like Lisa Whelchel, Blair from "The Facts of Life", who got second place on her season. Some crash and burn, like baseball bigot John Rocker, who finished third from bottom.
This season, the celebrity... (Perhaps "celebrity" is not the right word?) is Jon Lovett, who used to be a speechwriter for both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. (Not to be confused with Jon Lovitz, says Wikipedia. We wouldn't dare!) He has since created and hosted the pretty popular podcast, "Pod Save America". Lovett was also in a long-term relationship with Ronan Farrow. Yeah, we're stretching "celebrity" here.
Lovett neatly fits the nerdy Jewy archetype that sometimes does well on Survivor. (Second-place finisher Stephen Fishbach and previously-profiled winner John Cochran are two obvious ones.) We were looking forward to him competing. So how did Lovett do?
Crashed and burned. Dead last. A guy on his tribe had an emotional breakdown on Day 3, and they still voted out Lovett.
So not exactly interesting...
