Did you know that there is a soccer World Cup going on RIGHT NOW?

"You don't say", answers the discerning reader. "Don't World Cups come every four years? Isn't one happening NEXT YEAR, in Brazil?"

Oh, but we do say! And note how we didn't write, THE soccer World Cup.

You know of beach volleyball, right? It's an Olympic sport and everything. Well, there is beach soccer as well, and even though it hasn't made it to the Olympics yet, it has its own World Cup. Of the 16 editions, Brazil has won 13.

This year's tournament is taking place in lovely Tahiti, and USA qualified. On the team is Michael Enfield. He had a rather pedestrian time in Major League Soccer, and then made a move to Australia, where he because the first American — and the first Jew — to play in that country's A-League. Well, "play" might not be the right word, since injuries prematurely curtailed his career. On grass, at least. Not on the sand.
