Did you know that they give the Nobel for pornography?

Put that camera down, amateur filmmakers. There is no Nobel Prize in Pornography. We're talking about an isolated incident.

You see, Elfriede Jelinek, an Austrian Jew, won the Nobel in Literature in 2004. According to the committee, she got it for "musical flow of voices and counter-voices in novels and plays that, with extraordinary linguistic zeal, reveal the absurdity of society's cliches and their subjugating power." Take that, society's cliches!

But one Swedish Academy member wasn't exactly a fan. He quit in a fit, claiming that Jelinek's writing is "whining, unenjoyable public pornography".

We wonder if it was enjoyable pornography, then his stance would be different...
