Getting an invention named after yourself is the pinnacle of one's career. So why didn't Uziel Gal want that?

Maybe because Uziel Gal wasn't even his real name? Born Gotthard Glas, he changed it after immigrating from Germany to Palestine.

Maybe he was shy? We have no way of knowing.

Maybe because of the invention itself? For, it should be obvious, Uziel Gal invented quite possibly the most famous gun in the world... the uzi.

We would like to think that, actually. Maybe Uziel did not want his name associated with a killing machine that turned out to be responsible for millions of deaths all over the world during the past 70 years.

But we can't be sure...
