    August 7, 1975 —

In 2001, Halle Berry became the first ever African-American woman to win the Best Actress Oscar.

Two years later, Charlize Theron became the first ever African woman to win the Best Actress Oscar. This is before she became African, American.

Confused? You shouldn't be. Miss Berry is definitely African-American, but she is not African, born in Ohio with no ties to the continent beyond her ancestry. Miss Theron, on the other hand, is clearly African, born in (South) Africa in 1975. (Here is where we mention that our college newspaper called Nelson Mandela the first African-American president of South Africa. Sigh.) And now, Charlize is BOTH African and American, for she received her US Citizenship in 2007. (Alright, it's a tad more confusing now.)

Of course, this is not AfricanOrNotAfrican.com, so let's get to why we are here: Miss Theron is not Jewish. Her only connection comes from 2010, when, after breaking up with her long-term partner, she had a short-term fling with Kabbalah.

But then, what Hollywood actress hasn't? Apparently, Halle Berry...

    Verdict: Sadly, Not a Jew.
