An uncanny wordsmith from Paris authors a book, "La disparition". It's a curious opus that is missing an important part. It has "a", "b", "c", "d"... a stop follows. "F", "g", "h", all through "z"... but for a solitary thing that is not found!
This is so confusing... How to clarify? Not too many options at our disposal. How to point out without using what is taboo?
See, we've been trying to write the above without using the letter "e", which is precisely what Perec did in his 300-page novel. We have no idea how he pulled it off; even our much-smaller-scale exercise was beyond maddening.
Well, we gave it a good try, even knowing in advance we couldn't succeed for the entire profile. You see, an "e" is definitely needed for the verdict below...
