"Sportscaster Warner Wolf Arrested For Vandalism", the headline read. Oh boy, we thought. What now?
For those not from the New York area, Wolf had spent a good half century on the television screen, narrating sports highlights, highlighted by his catch phrase "Let's go to the videotape!" (Talk about an expression that has already served its lifespan.) Like many aged New York Jews, he had retired and moved to Florida.
But our fears that Wolf went senile and turned into Florida Man were unfounded. It turns out he was arrested after a prolonged fight with his homeowners association, the Classics Plantation Estates. You see, Wolf was understandably appalled with the second word in that title, but the community refused to change it. So Wolf did the work himself, and was arrested after scraping off "Plantation" from the welcome sign.
So, an elderly vandal, but a righteous one. We wonder if they had that on videotape...
